Just a short post after a long spell.....
When you forget a password it's bad....when you forget the password that gives access to the forgotten password ....that's bad.
When you start posting on a friends blog because you cannot post to your own...it's getting worse.
When you lose your hair, teeth and other bits.....it takes your mind off ...the blog and the internet.....But .............There are always things going on in your mind, and friends you can turn to.
I don't like talking to peeps much and only have two peeps outside family I could call friends, but in the cyber world...........I don't have to get heavy on stuff.....I can talk....I can care....I can learn....feel, imagine........I can turn off.
Works for me.
A bit sad and dull after a gap of 3 months but.....who reads this stuff anyway?

Boost my spirits

Brown eyed girl is one of my favourite songs but strangely is not in my collection of music. Feeling the need recently for a boost to my spirits, I came across a few mp3 versions. One in particular reminded me of my band days. In fact, it reminded me of my earliest band when I would tape everything we did and spend non practise days analysing and fine tuning the act. Bands come and go and eventually, five bands laterI found myself gigging six days a week with one band, and original studio work with another band on the other day.
Twenty years on & my trusty Gibson has long been gathering dust beside my durangos. Occasionally I dig out one of the old tapes having long since discarded the later ones. The reason I kept the older stuff was because it was raw and one could sense the fun that was being had performing it even though it was peppered with bum notes and 'artistic' chord changes.
Back to the brown eyed girl mp3 in question, it was the same raw, unrehearsed feel by a band I had not heard of (but should have) obviously done before they too split. Today I give you the raw acoustic version by Busted.

Holidays

About this time of year we might be thinking of getting away from it all. Perhaps chasing herds of wilderbeast across the southern plains of the Serengeti is your cup of tea? A trip to some far flung exotic island? Maybe not. Nice as they sound I thought I would investigate some other options.
Wilmington, NC is first up (as regular readers to this blog would have guessed). Now this is definitely me. Colonial links and a paddle steamer without paddles, probably a health & safety issue. Next its on to Australia. 36,735 kilometres of coast huh? Think I'll need more than 2 weeks. Nice link on the left hand side of the page too to change language. Pity it didn’t have Indigo there because I need to learn it if I'm ever going to make King. Still, with its wealth of history dating back to before its days as a transportation colony you can easily lose yourself in the bush for two weeks or more (as was the case with Ned Kelly.
Moving swiftly on we come to Maidenhead. Whilst it does not boast a beach it used to boast a highwayman in the form of Michael Deeks (he was a real angel.) It's got a paddle steamer with a paddle if that's your thing. Sure? That just about wraps it up then.
Oh, me ? well I'm off to Dorset for a bit of scrumpy & western I love it's jurassic coast. It's even got ties to a few Australians

Wanted

I'm always on the lookout for another job, ear to the ground and all that stuff. Flicking through the options it occurred to me that I never see certain jobs on offer. I decided to type a little into my favourite search engine and see if I missed an opportunity. Having had no luck with Pope I move to King.
Mmm that's more like it but I don't speak Indigo Now I know Britain is after a new Prime minister at the moment and has needed one for a few years so I typed in Wanted-New Prime Minister but not a mention. Not wishing to be outdone I typed Wanted-Queen To be honest I was expecting more than that but only in solicitations
The only opening for a movie star I could find was the one at the bottom of this page but the link appeared to be damaged. In frustration I decided to diversify. I typed all sorts of jibberish into Google and came up with this.
True, it's not the job of my choice, it's not even a job offer, but it does prove my earphones and internet connection are working.

No post today, something is wobbly.

Thinking that those Australian researchers have been quiet of late I decided upon a little research of my own and came across an article from the BBC. It was quite old butI decided to readit.
Wow, Quantum entanglement! I've had a similar system at home for some years now. Flick a switch on in the lounge and a light goes on. Then because another light is "connected in some way" it takes on a complementary state (I don't wear the silly specs though).
I decided (once again) to take a trip to Wilmington, North Carolina this time to the university to see what they are up to. Lionfish eh? Wouldn't like to meet that in the bath. That's more like it but the researchers have silly specs again.
Seems you can't get away from silly specs but you can get away from silly research

Service charge

So, I read with interest that our very own Fat Duck has been voted best restaurant in the world. Yikes, the world is a big place with many fine eateries and I have the best, 2 miles down the road in Bray, England. That’s close enough to walk, so I decided to pay a visit.
In time honoured tradition, I fired up Google and typed in
Fat Duck Sure enough the menu was impressive and I drooled like a lama on steroids at the items on offer. Of particular interest was the Snail porridge which conjured up thoughts akin to
Kermit the frog in a liquidiser. Not as expensive as I imagined either (well, the cheapest option anyway) as long as you chose not to drink anything with your meal. But then, the "optional" service charge that "will be" added to my bill.

What option?

So where is the option? And why do eateries in general impose a service charge? When I employ a builder to extend my house I am not billed a service charge. I decided to take a trip to Wilmington, North Carolina to check out what happens there, partly because I always thought that in mind I was going to Carolina and partly because I couldn't think of anywhere else to go.
At first glance,
Fat Tony's Italian Pub looked just the ticket because it shared the word "Fat" but it appeared to be in a different league & didn’t sell
Gordon's Scotch Ale so I moved on to
Café de France because I thought the cuisine would be similar to the Fat Duck.
Chasing down the menu I was once again "lamalike" until I spotted the spicy Thai crab cake. Eh? Chicken curry.......? Yep, the French invented both curry and Thai meals.............not. Call it something else guys, don't confuse the public. How about Custer's or Delibellys? I'm sure the cuisine is excellent but when I visit a French restaurant I expect food cooked and prepared in a traditional French way. Imagine popping into an Indian restaurant and being offered snail porridge madras. But that is not what I'm here for, a quick scroll down the bottom (so to speak............ and we find the all important stuff - 18% gratuity? 10 bucks to pull a cork? They're all at it.
I think I'll skip lunch after all.

Getting over it

Well then, looks like the first post worked out just dandy apart from the hiccup with the comment box which by default only allowed registered bloggers to post comments. I can see the reasoning behind this but it was not for me. I had been using the 'posting>edit posts' menu to insert data but for this post I went to 'posting>create' If it works out I will have a rummage through the tools to find some glamour to stuff in. I did drop in a bit of HTML code but it didn't like it much and told me to to go away and come back when we spoke the same language. Same wherever I go, folks just can't be bothered to speak the Queens English ...

So there you have it, her main residences are Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle (which were both in the south of the country last time I saw them) and a group of Australian researchers wonder what could be giving her a Southern British accent. Where have these Australian researchers been the last few years?
